sunny day sunday
stephen & i went to the deschutes river ("duh-SHOOTS") on sunday. this is my first time east of the cascade mountains, and it's a desert over there! who knew? it was hot and dry and absolutely lovely in every way. well, except when we came across a rattlesnake in the midst of swallowing its chipmunk dinner. i wouldn't say that was lovely. but it was fascinating to watch.
on the drive out, we passed obama's motorcade, which was headed to his rally in portland. 75,000 people showed up. stephen & i would have both loved to have seen obama in person, but in all actuality we were closer to him, passing him on the interstate, than we would have been at waterfront park.
i actually got chills as the motorcade drove by. i felt weirdly patriotic. i almost cried.

ADDENDUM:
i've started putting a number of my flickr photos behind a firewall of sorts. if you don't have a flickr account, and you haven't specifically made me a 'contact', then chances are you aren't seeing all the photos i'm posting.
