saturday

traveled by max and streetcar (both free; portland rules) to the aerial tram for what i've heard is a spectacular view of the city. we got there, though, and found it was closed for repairs. boo.

took the streetcar back up to the big farmer's market. holy shit, this market kicks ass. it's about 10 times bigger than the one i go to in the hollywood district. an incredible array of produce, of course, but also tons of yummy prepared foods. we had some spicy italian sausage and some great pastries.

then up to art in the pearl. we saw some belly dancers of various shapes and sizes.

at the art show we enjoyed the work of some truly amazing artisans, but the most noteworthy was acme hats. her felted hats were stunning... and so fun! everyone in her booth was happy. her work incites smiles. amazing stuff.

we then went to the saturday market, which is like hippie-dippy jewelry and craft mecca. and more food. we got some ice cream, watched an african marimba band and ogled the cheap goods. i got a couple of cute bags. i use a lot of bags these days, carting things around town on foot.

back home we went, pretty beat. we rested and had a nice light dinner. and now we're getting ready to head out to meet my friend dan at what looks to be a pretty well-respected jazz club.

good times.
