the storm before the calm

this weekend i had fun at the big farmer's market (found the "pine state biscuit" stand, and had a fantastic southern-style sausage biscuit... woo!), then took advantage of the surprisingly sunny weather and played my first-ever game of disc golf. (i sucked, but had a wonderful time in the woods anyway.)

maybe one of the highlights of the weekend was a gloriously decadent midnight sandwich. open-face, on buttered, toasted spelt bread... thick-cut oregon bacon, melted sheep's cheese, sauteed (in more butter) maitake mushrooms, with some farmer's market lettuce, tomato & cucumber on top. good lord. i thought i'd died and gone to heaven.

sunday was a lazy morning in bed, followed by some laundry. i then pulled myself together in order to meet some of the station donors at an indian restaurant for dinner (it's alarming how few indian restaurants i've found here in portland) and then i went to the symphony with our new interim executive director. a really great guy... it was nice getting to know him better.

now i'm frantically trying to wrap up all of my loose ends in order to get on a plane tomorrow afternoon and not worry about the work i'm leaving behind. not enough hours left to do everything i need to do...

That sandwich. Good lord. Was a cardiologist present? Then again, folks in NC are getting the same decadence at the State Fair, but without the great tastes.
