carmen and the burger lady

one of the many perks of my job is that i occasionally get free tickets to cultural events. tonight i had a pair of tickets to see the portland opera's production of "carmen". i love opera.

the boy is out of town on business, though (in kuala lumpur!), leaving me dateless. i asked almost everyone else i know, but no one was available to accompany me. then, as it happens, i got an email at work today from the roller-derby hamburger girl. i hadn't heard from her since that night we met back in august, and her contacting me today just seemed too coincidental... so i asked, she enthusiastically agreed, and we met for a glass of wine downtown after work then headed to the show.

the performance great, by the way. the woman who played carmen *embodied* that role. very cool. and the rollerderby girl was fun, too. a new friend. yay!
