not-what-i-expected friday
well, the lunch at yacht club was largely disappointing. and then on top of that my golf game got canceled. so with a suddenly-free evening ahead of me, i decided to drive up to mount tabor and tromp around the park.
it was stunningly beautiful. i loved that there is an ampitheater at the mouth of the extinct volcano cone.
there are also marvelous views of the city from up there.
after about 90 minutes walking the trails and exploring, i got hungry and called my friend dan. he agreed to meet me for dinner, so i drove up to his hip neighborhood where had a really great dinner at a little hole-in-the-wall taqueria. we bar-hopped and drank too many cocktails, but in doing so we also happened upon a really great bluegrass band that reminded me of north carolina.
there are some weird shops in his neighborhood, too, including this light bulb store:
it turned out to be a really great spontaneous evening.
