this post is dedicated to sarah

today was the annual alberta street fair. alberta street is one funky-ass neighborhood, full of edgy-looking hipsters and off-the-wall boutiques and restaurants. it can be pure craziness up there.

so, appropriately enough, the parade that kicked off the weekend-long street fair featured a dozen or more art cars. they were great!

they were organized by this group, who i'll definitely need to keep an eye on for the future.

the rest of the parade was fun, too:

wow, a post for me! Last year at the big Houston parade I met one art car driver from Oregon. Her name is Emily and she drove the awesome Vain Van. I didn't see it in your photos, it had hair curlers all over it. Maybe she's started a new car in the meantime. She also did the "Bra Ball" which is on display at the outsider art museum in Baltimore.

coolness!
I think we may have seen an earlier version of that butterfly VW at Houston in 2004 but other than that all those cars are new to me. Esp. loved the one with the big fin.
