symphony
my friend larry asked for my assistance this afternoon. he had knee surgery recently, and needed some help running some errands. actually, he had to deliver fliers to various bars & cafes all over town, so i drove him hither and yon so as to allow him to go easy on his knee by not having to drive, park, and walk. i went into all of these places with him, and in doing so discovered a lot of cool joints to visit again.
then tonight i had a date with the boy. we went to this oregon symphony concert, which we both enjoyed tremendously. on the recommendation of one of my on-air colleagues, we also attended the pre-concert talk (which was, in fact, hosted by this same colleague). this co-worker basically holds a half-hour public discussion with the symphony conductor before *each* classical concert, and he thought i should attend because there's a good chance i'll be called upon to do the same thing at some point in the future.
*gulp*
suffice to say, he did a phenomenal job, with poise i can only aspire to. this is the same colleague, btw, who paid me that melancholy compliment last week. he's really something else...

The Boy better watch out.
Sounds like he has very crafty competition.
competition? from the colleague?? no no no. definitely not!
Just an unrelated note to say that whenever you mentioned that The Boy was in Kuala Lumpur, this is what I couldn't help but be earwormed by.
