the pledge drive is going well. my concerns about being new here were quickly alleviated by an amazing slew of loving listener feedback. it's day three of the drive, and i'm doing well.
last night, i finally got around to visiting an ethiopian restaurant in my neighborhood (a mere 6 blocks away). *excellent* food. man, it's been years since i've eaten ethiopian cuisine (since the blue nile in durham closed) and i am just so psyched to have it so close to home now.
oddly enough, there are *four other* ethiopian restaurants within a couple miles of my apartment. i can see i'm in for some adventurous eating in the months ahead. woot!
after mudai, todd and i went up to the alberta district, ostensibly for their "last thursday" art walk, but we just ended up meeting some friends at the new "bye and bye" for a few drinks. i think i probably had one too many cocktails (makers and ginger), but it was a nice stress-relief thing. and i didn't get so buzzed that i couldn't fend off the advances of a crazy, visiting san-franciscian who took a liking to me approximately 60 seconds we met. yeesh.

supposedly an ethiopian restaurant will be opening soon practically across the street from our house (a fried chicken place recently closed). this is in the rumor stages, but if it happens, i'll be thrilled. otherwise, the closest ethiopian food i know of is in seattle. ethiopian food = yum.
