dazed.
i just spent nearly six hours in a theater watching this.
i'm a drum corps fan, and was so excited to see that one of the three cinemas in oregon broadcasting the DCI quarterfinals -live- was the one cinema that's right on my walk home. serendipitous.
it started at 4. it's almost 10 now. my eyes and ears are completely overstimulated. i'm going to be dreaming in formations tonight.
here are a couple of videos of the cavaliers (my personal favorite corps) from past years' finals:

I'm so proud to know another marching band/drum corps geek! I spent four years in marching band in high school, and now I'm in Year Six of supporting Teen Girl Squad through their marching band years. (Teen Girl 1 has a friend who did colorguard with the Madison Scouts this year, too!)
Count me in, too. My dad used to take us to a drum corps show every July, in a stadium in Scranton. Seeing these videos completed my summer, thanks! (Nell goes to a music camp every summer where one tradition is to have the local high school marching band come marching down the street from the high school to the camp. I always stay to see that, for a tiny fix.)
minty-
the madison scouts were my early favorite last night. they had a really creative program.
the colorguard coach at my high school was an ex-member of the cavaliers, so that's why i tend to like them so much. but their program last night was pretty phenomenal.
it was great to be in a theater full of people who were as geeky about it as i was. we were all cheering the great moves, well-timed rifle catches, and big blasts of horn sound. it was actually pretty exciting!
Some marching bands would buy a single halftime program and use it all season. Not the Bethel Park Senior High School Blackhawk Marching Band! We had an original halftime show for every single home game -- as far back as I can remember -- until the phenomenal band director retired. I LOVE marching bands and I rue the day networks cut away at halftime for highlights and analysis rather than show the marching bands. I never got to be the band, but I was definitely a marching band groupie!
I know that you will understand when my only response is....
SPLOOOOIE!!!!
