why i walk

after i pop out the other side of the ice-skating mall i then cross the tracks for the light rail. another block and i cross over the interstate. at that point, when i look to the west, i see downtown portland:

and when i look to the east i see a hundred reasons to not get in my car:

please also notice the clear blue skies. the weather here is unspeakably beautiful. i wish i could bottle it and send it to you. "glorious" is an understatement, and walking to work is a joy.

I feel the same way about the weather and the foliage here.
Unbelievably blue skies, green trees choking the scenerey.....and it's TREES like the trees from home.
Firs, oaks, trees I can understand.

Never discount the value of the scenery on your soul

I also feel this way about the air in Atlanta... the haze, the hydrocarbons... mmmmmmmmm! Makes me glad to be alive!
